Skipper Rhett Weber has been fishing since the day he was born. Yes, Really! He took his first steps aboard the Scooter when his Dad, Lee Weber (another renowned charter captain) was running it.
As a kid, he jumped from boat-to-boat working as a deckhand learning all he could from long-time captains. By the time he was 14 years old, he was earning a living as a deckhand. His passion of the water and his eagerness to know everything about fishing has made Rhett one of the best in his field. C'mon! What are you waiting for! |
Deckhand
Jordy is ending 2023 studying for his OUPV license. He loves working with the Slammer family and is in no hurry to leave.
He is engaged to Loretta. They live in Westport. |
Jordy Gillespie
Jordy joined Slammer crew in 2022. He grew up in Roy, Wash near the Nisqually River. Jordy enjoyed fishing on Harts Lake, the Nisqually and other nearby fishing spots with his dad. If dad wasn’t available, he’d hop on his dirt bike and head out to fish and play outdoors alone. In 2022, he saw a post on the internet looking for responsible, hardworking deckhand: Jordy went for it. He asked Rhett for a chance and after proving himself to be up to the daily grind and grit of deckhand, he was tossed in the marina earning his right to be called a Westport Deckhand. “I love being a deckhand. I enjoy the people. I want them to have a blast. I help them at first, if they need it, but my job is to let them have their day of fishing. That’s the best part – watching everyone have the best day ever.” |
Our Other Crew Members
Charlene, Deckhand & New Mom with future deckhand, Easton Char helps on the weekends, or whenever else she can get away from her "real" job. She can put anything you want to keep in the net, but you might have to help her get it over the rail! In 2020, she welcomed a new future deckhand, Easton, to the roster of our growing family business. |
